Puppeteer, Maricela Carelock, brings the GIFT OF LAUGHTER to Bilingual students at Highlands Element
November 13, 2015, Dallas, Texas – With original songs, creative stories and amazing puppets, Maricela Carelock brought a smile and character education to 4th and 5th graders at Highlands Elementary in Cedar Hill, TX on October 15. The children laughed, clapped, learned new songs and participated as Maricela taught them the importance of good character and bad character. And they got it! As many took notes, the teachers were amazed how Maricela keep the children engaged. “We want Maricela back to share with the entire school. I was inspired to see the children taking notes, laughing and completely captivated,” said Principal Deborah Owens-Pinckney.
During her presentation, she introduced her puppets: Nana Sarah, Sylvester, and Grandpa. Each puppet has a distinct personality to emphasize good morals such as love, friendship, respect, obedience, excellence and self-esteem.
Maricela has been performing since the age of fourteen. She discovered the love of music and ultimately launched her singing career at the University of Costa Rica.
Maricela’s “Gift of Laughter” tour is being sponsored by THAT A GIRL COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT AGENCY. The agency creates “enrichment tours” to enrich the lives of others to Dream bigger. Fly Higher. Matter.
