Actor and Model, Mike White III, talks to DAEP Students at a High School to instill in them “A New M

November 12, 2015, Dallas, Texas – Mack White III, the young actor who portrays Jessie Armstead, the former Carter High star and ex-National Football League player in the new movie, “Carter High” visited with about two dozen students in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program at The Ninth Grade Center in Cedar Hill, TX. His topic was “A New Mindset.”

“Trouble is easy to get into, but it’s hard to get out of,” White said, telling the students how his anger and frustrations got the best of him. But he learned from his transgression, he said, and so can they. “There’s a difference between ignorance and stupid,” White said. “Ignorance is not knowing; stupid is knowing but continuing to make the same mistakes. Every person in here, we all know that when you do wrong, there are consequences. So when we continue to do wrong, that’s being stupid.”

White knows what he is talking about and the kids respect him because at age 16, White was convicted of two counts of aggravated robbery and sentenced to three years at the maximum-security juvenile prison in Gainesville. As fate would have it, it was a football game between the Gainesville State School and Grapevine Faith Academy — the One Heart Bowl — that would help him turn his life around. Now 26, he believes that it’s his calling to help other kids who grew up in bad situations believe that they matter and they can achieve great things simply by changing their mindset to positive and constructive thoughts.

Mack’s engagement at The Ninth Grade center was sponsored by THAT A GIRL COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT AGENCY. The agency creates “enrichment tours” to enrich the lives of others to Dream bigger. Fly Higher. Matter.
